Carlos Louis Boucher de Grand Pré , was a Spanish soldier of Acadian origin, who was a colonel in the Spanish army. He was also Lieutenant Governor of Red River Parish (Louisiana) and governor of West Florida (1805) and the Natchez District after a career in the Spanish Louisiana. == Biography == Grand Pré arrived in Louisiana via one of two waves of Acadians who arrived there between 1765 and 1785; the second wave was by invitation of the Spanish, who appreciated the Acadians' efficiency in irrigation and dam construction (which was based to the technique known as the aboiteau). Among other actions, Grand Pré participated in the construction of an extension of the site Baton Rouge by the French Elias Beauregard, although its original authorization had not been complied. In the meantime, the ownership of Louisiana changed twice, becoming French in 1800, then being sold to the United States in 1803. This was illustrated by taking the British military post of Thompson's Creek and Amite, then under Governor Bernardo de Galvez, Fort Manchac and Fort Richmond, in 1779.
